Biography
Tu Nguyen is a Vietnamese American composer and musician. He is self-taught in the violin and has studied classical sax for six years. After arriving at the University of California at Los Angeles, Tu began studying classical voice performance (and currently sings with the Angeles Chorale) and the erhu, a traditional Chinese, two-stringed, bowed instrument, with renowned erhu master, Professor Chi Li. Tu's primary interest is in scoring for film and video games and has been studying with composer and Ud virtuoso, Professor Munir Beken. He has also interned with composer and producer, Jed Smith of Betafish Music in Santa Monica, California, and is currently interning in the Music Creative Affairs department at Sony Pictures Entertainment in Culver City, California. He will graduate in spring of 2010 with a B.A. in Ethnomusicology with an Emphasis in Composition and Performance.
